HOTEL GROUP RECOMMENDS SIX KEYS TO RETHINK TOURISM

SANTO DOMINGO.- In order to commemorate World Tourism Day, on September 27, 2022, the Pinero Group proposed six keys to rethinking tourism together. After two years of great challenges that impacted all economic sectors around the world, tourism has experienced its lights and shadows.

And, after overcoming long periods at home and experiencing atmospheric phenomena such as Hurricane Fiona, the need to have keys to improve tourism—in synergy—becomes increasingly necessary.
Until August of this year, the Dominican Republic received more than five million visitors, thanks to which the growth of tourism in the country has been exponential. According to the figures from the Central Bank, the sector contributed 1.8% of 5.6% to the expansion of the country’s economy, between January and June 2022.

Given this, Hotel Group a company with almost 50 years of history, recommends six keys to the new moment of Dominican tourism and around the world:

Digitalization of processes: through these improvements, more efficient companies and destinations are built. The technology applied to the processes contributes to improving the experience of all users, both collaborators, and visitors.
Another of the main axes for the future of tourism is social responsibility. Responsible tourism begins with synergy between workers and the local community, as well as in raising awareness among tourists, in order to achieve sustainable development and define guidelines for ethical conduct.

The exercise of sustainable tourism: as a sector, we must promote sustainable use of resources, as well as for consumers. Preserving the essence of the environment in destinations and improving the environment are two significant challenges we face to ensure responsible tourism.

Along the same lines, continuing to contribute to sustainable mobility with increasingly clean, durable, comfortable, and environmentally friendly transport is the trend to follow. We are turning the entire tourist experience around respect for the environment, and shapes, step by step, how we do tourism around the world. Even more so in a factor as decisive as mobility.
Hand in hand with the local community: Community members are fundamental to the development of a tourism company. Maintaining a continuous dialogue will help both sides build tourism aligned with Human Rights.

Betting on youth, of course: having the vision of young people, as tourists and potential professionals in the sector, is key to responding to the needs that the sector will have to face in the future.

For the Dominican Republic to continue to be an example to follow in tourism before the world, working together with government authorities and other sectors is vital, therefore, it is necessary to continue focusing efforts on strengthening partnerships within the sector to face the new challenges.
